About Heather:
Heather Mewshaw has been working as a professional sign language interpreter since 1999. She is a CODA and became certified with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) in 2000. She is comfortable with working in an array of settings and her strengths are in settings such as government, medical, conferences, highly-techincal assignments and college level interpreting.
Heather is viewed as a reliable asset who understands the need for effective communication. Outside of her interpreting work, she is involved in fostering growth within the sign language interpreting profession. Heather is an active member of PCRID by serving on the Annual Conference Committee and as the Webmaster. Also, she is an approved interpreting mentor through CCBC and serves as a Local Test Administrator for the RID. She is also a member of RID, MDAD, Mano a Mano and CODA International. This involvement in the interpreting community gives her the ability to stay in touch with the pulse of the field and gain insight into new trends. Heather resides in Maryland with her husband and enjoys scrapbooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
