About Heather:
Heather Mewshaw has been working as a professional sign language interpreter since 1999. She is a CODA and became certified with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) in 2000. She is comfortable with working in an array of settings and her strengths are in settings such as Federal and state government, medical, conferences, religious services, and highly-technical assignments.

Heather is viewed as a reliable asset who understands the need for effective communication. Outside of her interpreting work, she is involved in supporting the deaf community and fostering growth within the sign language interpreting profession. Heather is an approved interpreting mentor through the Community College of Baltimore County's Interpreter Preparation Program, serves as a Test Administrator for the RID and volunteers with the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Office of Deaf Ministry. She is also a member of RID, Maryland Association of the Deaf and The Potomac Chapter of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. This involvement in the Deaf and interpreting communities gives her the ability to stay in touch with the pulse of the field and gain insight into new trends.
